for everyone
Lamont Cotton transformed his 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 from stock to the state-of-the-art. "I've been riding for 15 years and always wanted to buy a new bike. After reading Super Streetbike and seeing all the nice bikes, I wanted to have a showbike that I could ride and travel with," explained the resident of Clarksville, Tennessee.

To kick off the project, the bike was completely disassembled, and the frame, subframe and as many pieces as possible were sent out to be chromed by Crotch Rocket Customs. In addition to the stock pieces, a Race Fit exhaust and Super Bike Concepts gas cap were chromed to match.

Crotch Rocket Customs handled the assembly of the bike, including installation of a single-sided swingarm with RC Components "Raven" Wheels wrapped in a 300-section rubber roller. With the bike back and the swingarm installed, Cotton had a solid base for showcasing the award-winning paint job on the bodywork.

Brian King of Colors by Kruz was brought in to spray the House of Kolor paint in a triad of colors that, frankly, resembles an Easter egg on acid. A pearl-yellow base color is accented with a magenta metal flake and orange marble graphics. The lowers are painted with "true flames" and have a small apple-green stripe. The entire design was hand-pinstriped and then cleared for a glossy shine. "I haven't seen a nice bike like the ones in the magazine anywhere around here. So I thought I would be the first," explained Cotton.

From the looks of it, Cotton got it right the first time.
